Zasendle Wildlife Foundation

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”

Between Gary and Jayson, the founders of Zasendle Wildlife Foundation, there is over 40 years of experience in the wildlife industry.

After seeing the plight of so many endangered and critically endangered animals, we decided a Foundation is needed to Research, Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release animals in need.
Together with the research by Dr. Andrew Fraser, a world renowned Wildlife veterinarian, we can save these defenceless animals.

Our Mission

To raise vital funds to support front line conservation projects which help secure a future for wildlife in their natural habitat.

  • We fight environmental and wildlife crime through ranger programmes and law enforcement.
  • We engage with communities to educate and raise awareness to reduce threats to wildlife.
  • We campaign for stronger wildlife laws and to reduce consumer demand for wildlife products.

Through dedication and hard work we have influenced policy, shifted attitudes and provided an unwavering voice for wildlife conservation from grass roots to the world stage.

Zasendle Wildlife Foundation engages with communities through our educational programmes, believing that participation is vital to ensure a sustainable future for both people and wildlife.

We support alternative income and livelihood initiatives and empower local communities and future generations to live in harmony with wildlife.

African Leopard

Poaching for skin and body parts, persecution by humans, and habitat loss have threatened the lives of these leopards. A 2014 survey indicated that there are around 12,000 to 14,000 South African leopards existing in the wild, as of 2021, this number had reduced to under 7,000. This is critical that we intervene to save this magnificent animal.
The cost for rehabilitation cannot be maintained without your generous donations.

African Wild Dog (Painted Dogs)

Even with their finely honed hunting skills, African wild dogs count among the world's most endangered mammals. According to the IUCN Red List, only around 450 wild dogs remain in South Africa, with a mere 25 dogs being in the Limpopo province
The cost for rehabilitation cannot be maintained without your generous donations.

African Pangolin

All pangolin species are critically endangered — mainly due to poaching and deforestation, which threatens their habitats. The World Wildlife Fund has called them "one of the most trafficked animals." Pangolin scales are prized for traditional medicine in countries like China and Vietnam.
The cost for rehabilitation cannot be maintained without your generous donations.

Education on Conservation

There are high levels of poaching in several areas across South Africa in which poaching is a livelihood or a culture. We have launched an education campaign in such areas.
Students engage in an communal discussions to instil a sense of pride for Africa's wildlife and their commitment to protect it.
Students will be elected as prefects responsible for Wildlife.
